Examining The Changes To The New Bibles.
Ye shall not add unto the word... neither shall ye diminish ought from it Deut 4:2
Welcome To Our Page On The Changes To The Holy Bible!
What you will find here:
On this page you will find articles, facts, and links to other resources which will help you see for yourself whether or not the new Bible versions are to be trusted. Don't take the word of your Pastor, Teacher, or favorite celebrity Preacher on this; many good people are deceived on the matter. Take a look for yourself. Is this really a critical issue? Yes, it absolutely is! It was the twisting and corrupting of God's words that brought about the fall of mankind. The corrupting of God's Word began clear back in the garden of Eden. With his first, "Yea, hath God said?" the Devil began a centuries long campaign to pervert the truth and rob mankind of its benefits. In giving Adam and Eve an alternative path to walk, and convincing them of the personal benefit involved, Satan was able to alter the course of humanity. This strategy worked quite well, and is still in play today. The altering of Scripture in the modern Bible versions is doing untold damage to their unsuspecting readers. Do All Bibles Say The Same Thing?
Here is a typical example of not only the corruption of the original text, but also the great dissimilarity we find between the new version themselves: A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24 KJV NASB: A man of too many friends comes to ruin… ASV: ...maketh many friends (does it) to his own destruction… NIV: A man of many companions may come to ruin… NLT: There are “friends” who destroy each other… NWT: companions disposed to break one another to pieces... AMP: man of many friends will prove himself a bad friend... Making too many friends will cause you to ‘come to ruin’ and ‘destroy’ you? Give me a break! Do you accept that as a reasoning of truth? I surely do not. Some of these alterations are so absolutely ridiculous I cannot imagine the translators including them without worrying about retaining credibility as a scholar. A 12-year-old child would know better than to claim such rubbish as this to be Scripture. God was saying, “If you want friends then be friendly” not that having lots of friends will ruin you! Alterations like this are not rare but very frequent in the modern Bibles. Opposites Are Not The Same! The story we are continually fed by those promoting the ‘modern’ Bible versions is that they are all saying the same thing as the traditional text of the KJV. That they are just saying it with a different style or a more modern sounding vocabulary. We are told there is nothing wrong with the new Bibles. But is this really the truth of the matter? No, actually it is a lie of enormous proportions. As we will see nothing could be farther from the truth. Compare this verse from Jeremiah in the KJV to its reading in the NRSV: Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: Jeremiah 51:3 KJV Let not the archer bend his bow, and let him not array himself in his coat of mail. Jeremiah 51:3 New Revised Standard Version We see here that this ‘modern’ version is saying just the opposite of the KJV in the first portion of the verse; and in the second part the focus is changed from his opponent to himself! That should shock us enough to say “Hey, what’s going on here?” Are we to foolishly believe that opposites say the same thing? That’s what the promoters of the ‘new’ Bibles would have us accept. But, I’m sorry, that bird just doesn’t fly. There is no way you can change a verse of Scripture to say the opposite of its original form and still rightfully call it the Word of God. I just cannot accept that. Can you? How big of a problem is this? We are not talking about a few small changes here. The corruptions in the modern Bible versions number in the thousands, and take the form of:
A Common Misconception
Easier To Read? Not!
You will often hear people state that they like their NKJV, NIV, NASB, NRSV, etc. because it is easier to read than the King James Bible; but did you know that this is not a truthful statement? Modern testing formulas, such as the Flesch - Kincaid test or Gunning’s ‘Fog’ test, (and others) show that the NIV is seventh grade reading material, and the NKJV and NASB are at the sixth grade level. But these tests show that the KJV reads at only the fifth grade level! The ‘readability’ of written material is not determined by how modern sounding its words are but by other factors, such as the average number of letters and syllables per word and the average number of words per sentence. The ‘moderns’ consistently use harder to read text! The next time somebody tells you the ‘modern’ versions are preferable, because they take less effort to read, tell them they are mistaken because the KJV is actually the ‘easier to read’ version! But Those Old Fashioned Words! Still people will fuss and say, “But the King James has all of those old fashioned words I don’t know the meaning of.” Maybe God would like you to learn the meaning of those words so you might have a greater understanding of His ways? People are so used to going the easiest route they think the anemic text of the ‘new’ Bibles to be superior to the richness of the KJV. God did not design the Scriptures to be fast-food. Try to study (2 Timothy 2:15) the KJV with a good dictionary handy (the older the better). You’ll be greatly enriched! The Derivative Copyright Laws Here is another big reason for the dissimilarity of the ‘new’ Bibles among themselves, and their conflict with the KJV. Most folks don’t realize that the ‘new’ versions have to be different; or they couldn’t copyright and sell their version for profit! Because of the constraints of ‘derivative copyright’ laws there are legal requirements that there be substantial change in the content of their text from that of the original work (or others based on the original) to secure a copyright on their version.
And in their struggle to find words of similar meaning not already used in other Bibles these modern ‘improvements’ stray farther and farther from the truth. Many of these alterations are truly profit driven! Every time they are forced, by these legal guidelines, to choose a word or phrase that doesn’t stay true to the text they give a less and less accurate record of the truth. This can only worsen with each and every ‘new’ version to come along. Where will it end? Is Jesus Your Master

Evidence of Prejudice
I see clear evidence of prejudice in the way many attempt to belittle the KJV, and label it as untrustworthy. Let me explain what I mean with an excerpt from a recent correspondence of mine to a friend from the UK
I QUOTE: What I was hoping to present to you is a question for you to pose concerning those who seek to cast a shadow of doubt upon the faithfulness and validity of the KJV with their ‘scholarly’ objections. That question is this: If these folks are really moving in a concern for the Body of Christ, and the preservation of the truth of God’s Word, WHY are they not raising an outcry over the overwhelming, and easily proven, corruption of the modern Bible versions; but instead focusing upon a few questionable (so they claim) word choices in the KJV? Please step back from the issue a bit and prayerfully consider that. The bottom line I get from most of these people is that “the KJV is tainted and questionable, but DONT WORRY about the modern versions! You will still ‘get the goods’ from them. The new versions are quite alright, but beware that ole’ King James version! – it will take you places you shouldn’t go!” They are fussing over a (supposedly existing) molehill of problem in the KJV, and ignoring a very real MOUNTAIN of evidence of missing verses, and horribly altered text in the new versions! It is a provable fact that the ‘revision’ known as the Westcott / Hort Greek Text is outrageously corrupted, and this corruption (as well as corruption from other means) fills the pages of the modern bibles. Is it in any fashion reasonable to ignore this (or say it does not affect the understanding of the reader)? Does this evidence a genuine love for the truth, or is it clear evidence of prejudice? I cannot help believe it is the latter. To carry on about the taint of the KJV over a few (supposedly) questionable word choices, and not raise an alarm over the serious and provable corruption of the modern versions would be like two men coming before a judge. One is guilty of not paying his traffic fines but the other is a known criminal guilty of many felonious crimes of rape, robbery, extortion, murder etc.! The Judge raises much issue with the first man, and devotes a great deal of time to his debasement. Then he totally ignores the violent monster standing in front of him and closes court. What would your opinion of the judge be? Would you not question his actions? Would you not be compelled to lift your voice against his prejudice? I constantly see this same inequality in how many approach the issue of the corrupting of the Scriptures; and it always causes me to question where such a person is at spiritually to exhibit such evident prejudice. END QUOTE I spent 18 months on the researching and writing of a book that shows 500 serious changes to the modern bible versions. Many others have written similar works showing the great number of horrible changes to God’s Word in the new Bibles. Considering that fact, I marvel that so many ignore that proven corruption and chose instead to focus their disdain upon the KJV. I have stated before and will state here again I am NOT King James Only! But I absolutely believe it to be excellently translated, and a faithful representation of the Word of God. I would accept any Bible version which is an accurate translation of uncorrupted manuscripts. The problem is the modern versions have as a foundation the provably corrupt Westcott and Hort Revised Greek Text. Any version brought forth from the W/H revision bears the corruption of that text. The modern bible versions are replete with partially or totally missing verses, verses altered into completely different meanings, and even altered to the point of the truth being changed into a lie! If we are going to claim a genuine concern over the corrupting of the Word of God, and chose to raise our voices over the issue, let’s put the spotlight on the changes that really do alter the truth of God’s Word and affect the understanding of the reader, and not fuss about mere semantics. Let’s cry out against the very real mountain of corruption, not an imaginary molehill. May the LORD restore his people to the true Word of God; and deliver us from the corruption that has been introduced into the modern Bible versions; Paul Benson -------------------------------------------------------------------- Entire Verses On Hell-Fire Are Removed!
Here’s a very clear example of what I’m getting at. Look at the text highlighted in the next passage. These words are either missing or discredited in nearly every ‘modern’ version!
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 9:43-48 KJV There was an aspect of the Law of Moses that was carried forward as a spiritual principle and a way of life for God’s people: “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” The practice of repeating a matter to give extra emphasis is ingrained in the Word of God; and Jesus himself utilized this practice in his teachings. Look at the repetitive nature of his words on the horrors of a fiery Hell. This extreme emphasis was given to drive this doctrine home in our understanding in a radical manner. He was recommending drastic measures to avoid the torments of that place. Look how this passage reads in the New Living Translation (and many others): 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better to enter heaven with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands. 45 If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better to enter heaven with only one foot than to be thrown into hell with two feet. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out. It is better to enter the Kingdom of God half blind than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell 48' where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out.' Mark 9:43-48 NLT Here we see verses 44 and 46 totally missing, as well as the last half of verse 45. The phrase ‘the fire is not quenched’ is gone three times. The word ‘fire’ is gone four times! There is no way you can omit this kind of repetitive emphasis and still retain the serious impact the Lord Jesus intended. How could we not expect this to affect doctrinal beliefs? It’s hard for most people to grasp and retain an accurate estimation of the amount of Scripture removed or tainted in these ‘modern’ versions. What is presented here is just a very small sampling! Here we have the true Word of God changed into a boldfaced lie! I will give you one thousand dollars if you can show me in the Book of Isaiah the phrase “Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.” It is not there! Mark later quotes from Isaiah, but those words are found in the Book of Malachi.
People, we need to get a grip on something here. The Scriptures are a divine expression of God’s eternal truth; they are brought forth by the Spirit of Truth; they are truth! If something is not the truth then it is not God’s Word!

Other Resources
Some of the best teaching we have found on the error of the new Bible versions is that of Brother Les Garrett from Australia.
He is the author of 'Which Bible Can We Trust? A very informative and useful resource. He also wrote the worship song 'This is the Day' which you have probably sang before in Church.
There are many of his videos on YouTube teaching on the Bible versions. All are quite good but the 2004 series are probably the best. Very good history of the Bible and also on the Westcott-Hort Greek text.

Gail Riplinger of A.V. Publications has spent an unbelievable amount of time and effort researching the corrupting of God's Holy Word. She has authored many fine books and you can also find many good videos of her lectures on YouTube. We highly recommend her materials.

The Oldest Is Not The Best!
Stinky Footnotes
When examining the footnotes of the various Bible versions you will frequently see statements like: "The oldest manuscripts..." or "Most ancient authorities..." used to promote the idea that the oldest manuscripts are the best. But this notion is merely 'scholarly' opinion and has no foundation in reality. The brunt of such opinion stems from the age, and the well preserved condition, of the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus manuscripts (used to frabricate the Revised Greek Text). Does the condition of a document speak to its validity? They both had lien hidden in obscurity for many centuries while true copies of the Holy Writ were worn to pieces from extensive use and needed copied time and time again. Thus the age difference we see in them.
Good Books Get A Workout
If you went to a library and compared a copy of Tom Sawyer to say some boring technical manual the chances are the tech manual would be in pristine condition and Tom Sawyer may be looking a bit tattered, and had probably been replaced a number of times over the years. Would this mean we should not trust Tom Sawyer to be the correct text? That would be foolish.
In like manner the condition of the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus manuscripts does not speak to their correctness, but actually makes one wonder: if they were the true text why were they laid aside and did not suffer from extensive use? Age and/or condition determining correctness of a text is in no way a reasonable assumption. Older does not mean better!

Burgon's Early Proof
A Popular Lie
Many claim the differences between the KJV and the 'moderns' are because additions and alterations were made to the text by the translators of the KJV, and that the original text did read that way. This popular claim has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be false.
A Champion of Truth
John 'Dean" Burgon (1913- 1889) was in his day considered one of the worlds leading theologians. A contemporary of Westcott and Hort, when he realized the corrupt nature of their Revised Greek Text and the resulting Revised Version of the Bible he devoted the remaining years of his life to the rebuke of their work. He set out to defend the correctness of the Majority Text and show the error of the Revised Version in a remarkable way.
On A Mission
His claim was that if the text should read the way Westcott and Hort claimed, then it would always read that way in the myriad of scripture quotations found in the writings of the early fathers, which it does not. He reproduced the entire Greek New Testament (minus only a handful of verses) in Majority Test readings from those early writings, proving the Majority Text is the same text the early fathers followed. And also the handful of missing verses have been since located by others.
Mission Accomplished
This fact that the thousands of extant letters, commentaries, diaries etc. of the early fathers contain the entire New Testament writings in the same form as the text which produced the KJV is a undeniable witness to the correctness the KJV (and to the error of the RGT).

Insignificant Changes?
Is This Verse Insignificant?
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Mark 11:26 KJV
NWT+NIV+NRSV+NLT: THIS ENTIRE VERSE IS OMITTED in these versions and most other ‘new’ Bibles!
Many will try to argue and say the text deleted from these ‘new’ versions are insignificant or unnecessary words and their removal doesn’t affect what the Bible teaches. Would you consider this verse insignificant or not needed? Here we see an entire verse on forgiveness is removed!
Seeing the importance of forgiveness in relation to our right-standing with God, don’t you see the removal of this verse as a great danger? Many a soul has been restored through the rebuke of these words! Can we really live without this verse?

Who Was The Fourth Man In That Fiery Furnace?
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Daniel 3:25 KJV
NWT: ...the fourth one is resembling a son of the gods.
NASB: ...appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.
NIV: ...unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.
ASV+AMP: ... a son of the gods.
And the appearance of the fourth looks like a son of the gods? Tell me now, just who was that fourth man in the fire? Was it Hercules? Or was it maybe Superman? No, it was not a son of the gods; it was Jesus Christ the Son of God in that fiery furnace with those faithful ones.
This change really bothers me extra for some reason. Maybe it’s because the O.T. accounts give us such a precious glimpse into faith down through the ages. What a rip-off to see this wonderful image of Jesus ruined like this. Only an Antichrist spirit could motivate an alteration such as this! Many alteration in the new Bibles concern the doctrine of the deity of Christ. This is not sloppy translation, it is a targeted attack!
